Panettone is a Christmas cake from Italy that used to have a wide variety of fillings. Most of the time they simply used ingredients that you had at home, such as fruit, raisins and nuts. Nowadays the orange and raisin panettone is very popular. We went in search of a good panettone and found a family business in Friuli from Gemona that not only delivers the panettone to us at Christmas, but also fresh every week throughout the year.
Fluffy dough with a living yeast that moves from the inside out. Other ingredients in the panettone are butter, Sicilian orange peel, raisins that are preserved in sugar. After baking at a constant temperature, when the panettone is ready you can simply turn it over and it will release itself from the molds.
The panettone goes perfectly with our coffee and is the best we know. By stretching the cake, it tastes even fluffier and is highly recommended with long coffees such as Americano, extended or filter coffee.
