This beautiful giant bean, which is a cross between Arabica and Iberica, is one of the finest coffee beans in our possession. A noble and fresh cocoa taste comes first and as a finish you can taste fine notes of dates, molasses, honey and cinnamon. For the filter lovers, this bean transforms into light fruity aromas, cane sugar and raspberry.

Laguna Verde is located in the Arenal Nature Reserve in the Department of Matagalpa, in the same area as our other farms, La Huella and Mama Mina.
Laguna Verde has a unique microclimate that is shrouded in mist for over 60% of the day during harvest time. This means the farm is "self-shading" and does not require many shade trees. In fact, we have learned that too much shade on this farm encourages the spread of certain fungi that affect crop health. The farm's relatively high altitude and the fog also ensures cooler temperatures, which favor the slow ripening of the cherries.
